Behavioral Consultations We have a high success rate working with behavioral problems such as fear and aggression. These types of behavior problems are best dealt with in a one on one atmosphere. We can then concentrate on specific causes and individualize the program for your special needs. Please be sure to look at our client page for references and testimonials!
Frequently Asked Questions If my problem only happens at home, how can you fix the problem if you can't see it? I get this question occasionally, but in reality, it's often best to have the consultations in a neutral territory. Aggressive displays are simply the symptom of an underlying problem. My job is to determine the root of the aggression and develop a program to address the real cause, not just the symptom. The evaluation process combines a written history of the dog and observation during the first lesson. This process has been very successful in getting to the crux of the problem. The behavioral profile that you complete as well as my experienced observations of the dog are the pieces of information that I require to help your dog. What type of methods do you use? The methods can vary from dog to dog. We have a high success rate with fear as well as aggression because our program caters to the dog's individual needs as well as the client's comfort level. Can you fix my problem? We have many satisfied clients! Success of the program is dependent upon your commitment to the dog, your commitment to the program and the severity of the case. To view testimonials from our clients, please visit our Client Page. Will my dog always be aggressive/fearful? It depends on the cause of the problem, your commitment to your dog and the program as well as how long the problem has existed. Dogs that have developed a habit of aggression or fear may never fully recover, however, we can often see tremendous improvement as we develop the owner's ability to control the dog in volatile or fearful situations. How long will it take? How many lessons will I need? It can take as few as 3 lessons or, in more severe cases, as long as a year. The average time is 8 lessons. How long it takes depends on the type of problem, the severity of the case and the owner's commitment to the homework. How do the consultations work? Once you are set up in our program with a standing appointment, I ask that you meet with me every 2 weeks. We do this for three reasons: 1) It's easier on your budget, 2) It's easier on the dog because changing serious behavior patterns must be done slowly, and 3) It's easier on the owner because it allows you the opportunity to work with the program. I do not do contracts because we never know how long it will take and because I want to make sure you are coming to me because you believe in what I'm doing not because you are bound by a contract. I ask only that you pay one lesson in advance. That protects me because I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy. How do I sign up? Can I make an appointment today? The fastest way to sign up is to fill out the Behavioral Profile and Health Certificate and send it in with your first payment. To get a registration packet, please call our office at 770-638-8580. We do keep a full appointment schedule and occasionally, there is waiting list for our services. As soon as I receive your application, I will review your paperwork and you will receive a call to either set up an appointment or to be notified that you are on the waiting list.
